MY FIRST ROBOT

Dreadnought is a bad-ass, kick-ass destroyer-bot but he’s one of the good guys. Red is his favourite colour and standing at 10 metres tall you wouldn’t want to argue with him. He speaks 250 million (approximately) languages but his favourite is Hausa. He hates speaking JavaScript. He doesn’t like French food – even if he could eat it and his favourite song to kick ass to is “Big Foot and the Armies of Puma Punku”. (Rumour has it his ancestors are from Nibiru). He does a Monday night Q&A on YouTube and you can email him at: JesusStoleMyHotRod25KBC@yahoo.com.

BEHIND THE SCENES

This was the first robot I designed. I had designed robot heads before but not the whole figure. I was going for a Gundam meets The Transformers at Iron Man’s House style and I remember being quite pleased when I created it. Now, I know I can do much better and I have an idea for another robot design in 2022 (Hopefully). I sculpted the main forms in ZBrush, retopo’d it manually and then took it in to 3DS Max to Kitbash it up. The texturing was done in Quixel (I hate that program – don’t even think about using it – Substance Painter is FAAAAAAAR better). I then rendered it out with Redshift and did the final touches in Photoshop.

Please note: the preview watermark is removed on the final, purchasable painting.
